We've got year-round adventure for all ages! Just ask our friendly staff about the many different options.
|
| |
What you came here for: world-class fishing! But you can also hike and bike, boat and ski, shop and explore, take a scenic drive or just sit by the swimming hole. It's all right here at the park or nearby.
At our park: You'll enjoy the grassy, open bank fishing for the country's best Steelhead fishing fall and winter months; 2 runs of King Salmon spring and fall; year-round for German Browns. And as a necessity for fun, we have a clear, shallow lagoon for kidsplay of all ages. Also, we have a boat and raft ramp, horsehoes, sand volleyball and pool table.

| Nearby fishing: Flyfishing in the streams flowing from the Alps offers some of the finest freestone streams in the world. As the river flows out of Lewiston Lake into the world-famous fly-fishing section (catch and release) one encounters German Browns, Steelhead and Rainbow in great abundance. The spring and fall King salmon runs will thrill any angler. Trinity Lake for trophy-size large-mouth bass, rainbow and German Browns, Kokanee salmon and catfish. It also holds the California State record for smallmouth bass. Large mouth bass constantly hover around 10 pounds. The lake is uncrowded even in peak summer. Trout fishing in Lewiston Lake. It's spawning runs that make our fishing famous. There's a wheelchair-access fishing pier. Excellent fishing guides are available to help you obtain the "catch of the season" for the beginner through the expert. Classes are also available on casting and flytying. |
Hiking: Numerous day hikes abound, suitable for all ages. Scores of Alpine lakes. Visit some of the historic mining sites. Several hiking trails are just out of Lewiston.
Biking: Safely bike to town on the bike trail along the hwy (1-3/4 mile); or a challenging mountain ride (22 mile Trail); or an abandoned logging road (7 mile) or for a slower pace, Trinity/Lewiston Lake ride -- all on paved roads and gorgeous scenery, take a knapsack for a half day leisurely ride.
Water sports: Trinity Lake offers fast boats for skiing. Water-skiers find the "glassy" water excellent and swimmers love the warm water. And it's uncrowded even during summer peak months. The Trinity River offers great stretches for drifting, canoeing, kayaking and innertubing. You can take a rafting or whitewater trip (Class Two and Class Three). For summer swimming holes try the many sub branches to the Trinity River. One of my favorites for ultra-clear water and full sun with no poeple are the carrville ponds.
Snow sports: Forest Service lists 18 different cross-country ski routes! All are easily accessible and close by. Also snow mobiling and dog sledding. Have you tried snowshoes yet?
Horseback riding and packing: several stables available.
Explore the 1850s California Gold Rush: visit revived gold-mining towns, Lewiston and Weaverville, dedicated to preserving that rich history just for you. Or better yet visit a gold mine or even better yet, try your hand at gold-panning! Ghost towns like Helena are nearby where one can feel and see the past. |
Golf and Country Club in Weaverville.
Auto touring the designated scenic byways and historic drives. Motorists enjoy the beauty of Trinity River's dramatic canyon walls and crystal waters.
Mark your calendars!
Annual Peddler's Street Faire, early June in Lewiston has lots of fun, antiques, arts & crafts, entertainment, old-time fiddlers and all kinds of specialty foods -- you won't go away hungry! ALSO, Book ahead for Trinity River Resort's Annual OKTOBERFEST. Now in it's 20th year!
